10-12 hrs a day is standard... neither the e-mails I send from out of office, nor the time I spend on air travel is counted though. Taking that into account I sometimes wonder that my daughter still remembers me when I'm home... but I am definitely not proud of that.
It is somehow weird that one is working hard to afford a comfy life, but then does not have the time to enjoy that really.
The current work obsession is complete insanity IMO. The rest of the world doesn't do it that way.
Europe and Japan seem to function alright and life moves on. How do they do it?
At this current pace, a heck of alot of people are going to wake up at 50, 55, 60 and wonder what happened to their life. If they arent already doing it now.
I clock in for 10 hours a day 4 days a week. However, I probably only actually work 3-4 hours of each workday. This isn't because I'm lazy, it's just that when the airplanes aren't broken you're not going to fix them!

The past few months, I've worked maybe 1 hour out of my 8 hours.
That's due to being in "maintenance mode"
When nothing is broken, there's nothing to fix.
When doing development, then 8 hours a day goes fast, and it's all work.
