In some cases, document everything, date, time, location, remark, witnesses. Sometimes it's best to stockpile these things with some plan and patience. I called a human resources director friend of mine to find out who had sued them with success first. Their only practice was employment law, most expensive in town. A few grand? Go way higher than that, with him paying my attorney fees.
If you assult him you could go to jail and ruin any monetary settlement or throw him in jail your chances of a monetary settlement is way low. Sometimes, it's best if you take a minute and think things through - he needs to make money to give it to you, if you get too greedy or harsh they just file bankruptsy and you end up with nothing.
Stop and think with a level head and you are better off.
