How long does it take for the process to take its course and get a decision? I sent my forms to the IRS back in June...haven't heard anything since.

I've been waiting since May. I hear 6 months at least. It took over a month to get an acknowledgment that they received it.

I didn't even get an acknowledgment...I sent it via certified mail and it was delivered. Now I'm worried.

I filed 3 years ago. Every 6 months the IRS sends a form letter stating that they need another 180 days. Just be sure to file your amended returns in a timely manner and notate them with "Protected Return Pending SS-8 Determination." The IRS has accepted all of my returns but has not adjusted the tax amount stating that I was paid on a 1099. It's because the departments do not know about each other. If the SS-8 determination is finally ruled in my favor someday I should be able to have all the retuns adjusted.
