I was at a class the other day, and was talking to another guy about the class. Then we discuss changing jobs, and he asks me what type of work I'm looking for. I respond, he says he has a contact at XYZ, and asks for a business card. Well, I don't have business cards.
Anyway, I ordered some with only my name, my cell, and an email.
I got a whole line of setup on how to attend an interview. My personal business card is the highlight and it's very artistically done.
On my card, I actually printed a sentence on how I view my profession. During the interview, I always point it out to the interviewer, and it was very impressive.
I have made my own personal business cards for job searches.
I bought some blank stock paper for $10, made them on Microsoft Word, printed them onto the stock paper and cut them up myself.
I included some type of logo, the title of the job I'm applying for, my name and contact information. I also did other stuff such as bold certain wordss and add different color fonts.
They're simple, yet professional-looking too and only cost $10 (versus having Staples make them for $35+).
I used to use them with I was a substitute teacher. I had my info and teacher certification listed. It got me lots of gigs. People were very impressed with them.
I think they are a great idea for everyone. I think I will get some more done.
Supposedly it really increases your chance at getting offers. I was surprised they're considered expensive, everyone at Farmers said they were cheap.
