Could someone advice me it is realy? I would like to work as a deckhand.

Alaska Fishing Jobs Industry Overview

here is a link...hope this helps....but don't you need a summer work card or green card to work??First?? then you look for a job. This entails going where you want to get hired, and talking to brokers, agents and boart owners and guys/gals in bars or local churchs...

good luck

psssttt, personally if i wanted to do what you want... I would find the closest ocean to my current home, and get a job on a boat, then get a job on a big boat, then get a job on an international boat that works alaska every year.

or save my money and be a tourist in alaska for a month and ask around to people who are also foreigners and have done the same thing and who are trustworthy.

Why don't the two of you list your experience on fishing boats. How is someone supposed to offer you a job if you don't show what you have to offer? How long did you work as deckhands or any other position on fishing boats? What type of fish did you catch? How long was the longest you stayed out at sea? What size boats did you work on?

Finding employment as a deck hand is difficult unless you're here in Alaska at the port. You may want to consider working in a processing plant, to start, as long as you have a legal right to work in the US. Take a look at this site. The Alaska Dept of Labor works closely with seafood processing companies to fill their positions.

gresy: If you are not a US Citizen you are ineligible to work anywhere in the US unless you have a green card or are otherwise sponsored and this is not an easy process. Cheers!

I felt the same when I read about wolf packs in alaska... i forget the author's name...but i used to love reading him as a teenager....and of course...jacque cousteau...made me want to run away to fiji islands and work on a exploratory sailing boat and of course gone with the wind made me want to go to african and feed some hungy lions...;-)
