Hi everyone,
I was wondering what are some jobs that may require some training but no degree, yet are on demand with descent pay? I'm asking on behalf of a friend who's looking for something more challenging than working as as, let's say, a waiter or gas station attendant (his last job, and hated it). I suggested he look into working as a security guard, where the only thing he would have to do is complete a course and should not take him too long to find work (and pay is above minimum wage in most cases). What are some other careers you would suggest?

Good paying jobs are never easy to find unless it's something that relatively few people are willing to do even for ridiculous sums of money.
Start by asking what you are capable of doing.. and what you are interested in.. then pick the highest paying career that at least somewhat fits both lists.

Good paying and easy to find jobs are hard to find even with all sorts of degrees.

Start by researching vocational programs at his community college. "Good paying" jobs require skills/training.

I make over $80k with no degree. I took a Oracle SQL expert certification, last year. It cost $200. I spent 3-4 hours a week studying for it. It pays more than the average waiter or security guard.

Get some kind of certification at a community college that is applicable to the oil and gas field. Then try to get a job in the oil fields or at a refinery. You'll make very good money.
