I am finishing a BS degree this December and I have been applying for positions out of state. I have had several phone interviews and email communication with these "Talent Acquisition" people. I have had a couple say that my qualifications and experience are perfect and are very interested in speaking to me. I reply only to not hear anything back. I have also left a couple of them voice mails and still nothing. A couple of phone interviews have also gone very well and they get to the point where they ask if I am interested in speaking to them in person. I reply yes and then they promise to call back and never do. What is going on? I'm having a hard time reading these people. Is there a formula that they use to screen people? Anybody work in the hiring department that could explain this to me? Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. I've had this experience even when jobs were plentiful. I just had a phone interview two weeks ago and the hiring manager told me "someone will be in touch with you either way." Still haven't heard a thing.

If I ever come up with an idea that I can start a business with, I know how not to treat potential employees. If I treated them like employers currently do, how could I expect them to want to work for me?

I agree, that is just rude of them. Why would they even bother getting peoples hopes up.
