I was seeing a therapist of ADHD and in the past, I found a therapist that I could schedule at 700p. However with this new job, that I would prefer, of course to see work out, my hours are such that they are very non conducive for seeing a counselor. I just started it and don't want to **** off new bosses. I know about Saturday, possibilities, but those are very limited, what to do?

What kind of hours do you work that you couldn't squeeze an appointment in sometime between 8am - 7pm? How often do you go to therapy?

It was once a week. I haven't since I started the job, while I can request no overtime on certain days, I hear that too much of that (ex, 1/2 the time) is frowned on by the company. Also, like I found out the other day, even if you put in for no OT, due to the nature of the job, it's a 50/50 shot you'll get off right after the 8th hour. If I miss an appointment thanks to that, then, I'm charged with a no show fee, which is usually the cost of the session.

Can you just let them know you have a standing appointment once a week and ask if and how it can be accommodated in a way that won't be a problem at work? You don't have to say what it's for. Or just say it's medical/health related if you have to, since it is.

The first question that should be answered is whether the therapy actually helps. If not, then there's no point in going.

Not sure if I want to do this during a probationary period, while I could under the ADA act, well, most companies, will say yes, but write you up or fire you, for something else, almost right after it, when they know the true reason.

The ADA is a saving grace but especially during probation it can be an issue. I would tread lightly.

First see about a Saturday appointment, you said they are available, try and lock one down. If you go weekly I am sure you can make it a standing appointment.

I have a hard time believing that you can't lock down a couple hours (one hour appt, 30 minutes each way) once a week. Work an extra couple hours on other days. You can't work out something with your boss? You would think you can do it without mentioning what it is for. It would be good if you could be flexible with when it is, give your boss some options as to what day and time it is scheduled for so it can be a time that isn't critical to the business but there has to be a time that is less critical at some time during the work week (especially if the work week extends as late as 7 PM)
