Wow! I certainly wouldn't sneeze at that.

In general, most blue collar work is boring. I know someone who is a plumber but he is bored silly doing the same tasks over and over. He is paid well but unless he moves into management he is going to be doing those same boring tasks over and over and over until he goes insane!

I hate people like that. I had a friend from work join my family for Thanksgiving dinner one year. We were in our early 20's, her family lived states aways, and her husband was a Croatian (sp?) immigrant still getting his citizenship and working as a waiter until he could get a job more in line with whatever training/schooling he received in Croatia. Everybody had a great time, I was on pins and needles that my family would do something embarrassing, but a good time was had by all. When I went back to work after the holiday, my friend said that her husband really liked everybody and was "impressed" with my family. I was more than curious and asked why. Her answer was that nobody in my family asked Marco what he did for a living. He had been accustomed to meeting people and "what do you do?" is about the second question and when he answered "waiter" there usually wasn't a third question.

Well I have a poem for that woman. One day....the worms will crawl in and the worms will crawl out. And they won't give a damn what your job was about.

well he/she must be a new construction plumber, because i've been doing it for 23 yrs and still run into many situations that i've never seen before. not that there's not any repitition in the trade. god knows there is, but what profession doesn't have repitition? maybe he should try more commercial work, service, remodel. i did residentual new construction at one time and hated it. same ol' sh** everyday. one house starts looking just like the last

Booboy, if collecting refuse around here paid better than hauling groceries, I'd apply there in a second! (Most around here are private contractors) It's a shame people have such stereotypes about everone ELSE'S job... Hey, I don't care WHO you are; you still gotta have your trash emptied! Yes, I've even gotten the "You're ONLY a truck driver routine, too. Two things: It's their loss; I am about a LOT more than trucking. And it's actually a good thing...you don't have to waste your valuable time getting to know someone so shallow.

IS there a "Light Blue" collar catagory I for example have no college, am ex-military enlisted. When I'm in the office I'm the only non-engineer in an engineering department, setting on a desk typical white collar. When I'm in the field I'm operating, fixing, training guys, on 2000 to 10000 hp diesel engines, blue collar? I rarely get dirty anymore (enless I want to) but I have to draw pictures for those college trained Engineers all the time!!!!!!!!!
