IT support at a large company. They have 24-hour shifts.

IMHO you can't. Those 24 hour shops in big companies still require you to be on call to cover absences and such. And on shift work there will be plenty of call outs.

Which shops are not 24 hours?

If you're referring to a formal "on call" schedule, then there are lots of job that don't have that.

However, if you go salaried, time is no longer a consideration. Meaning you are paid to do the job. Be it 30 hour a week or 60 hours a week. Albeit depending on the environment and responsibilities, you may be able to manage it so it's a fairly normal 9-5 M-Fri schedule.

If you are afraid of working nights or weekends then IT is not what you need to be in. You have what is called maintenance windows. Those are almost always at night and on weekends. That is when the business is least impacted when IT does maintenance or upgrades to the systems.

Im not sure why you keep posting questions about IT when you don't want to do the work required in the IT field.

I've been on on-call rotations at my job for almost five years and I can count on one hand the number of times I've actually been called. I also have friends in IT positions who are never on-call.
