Can you really make a living, being an internet star, YouTube star, or even selling stuff on Amazon and Ebay, and never have to work a real 9AM-5PM job?
I've heard of certain "YouTube celebrities" actually making quite a bit of money with their channels....I'm not real sure how this works, I guess their schtics are entertaining enough for people to pay subscription fees to watch.
It seems like nowadays, anyone with a cell phone camera can become an instant celebrity. Just look at Chewbacca mom (which I found more annoying than funny), She supposedly made a few bucks off of that.
A more realistic and solid way to earn an actual living via the internet would be to start an online business. EBay or Etsy is a good start, but just like in the real world...you have to already have some pretty butch marketing and business skills. I've known people who have tried it and it's not as easy as it looks.
I crack up every time someone posts about wanting to work at home or do online business because they don't want to do 9-5. I got news for you guys. You still have to work. Many times, you'll still end up doing 9-5 anyways and sometimes, even more.
If making money was easy and doesn't require much work at all, we all be rich already. In the end of the day, you still have to work to make a living. Either you do it on your own or you work for someone else....it's still work.
Most of the people I know who sell things online just make little to average money. It isn't easy as it may sound. Most eventually go back to getting a full time job and do online stuff on the side.
I get paid mileage to drive to thrift stores while on the clock. I have at least one client with me at all times. They all love to go.
With that, I shop about 4-6 hrs a week and make about $575-650 per month. I list while I am on the clock too but I do postage at home. Postage doesn't take alot of time, the shopping does though.
Around here, I don't see anyone doing but know someone who makes twice what I do but he worked about 11 hrs a day at it. And I am sure the gas isn't factored in there. I don't see it happening, making a living by selling online.
Imagine a business where people give you things that have value, for free ?
Old computers contain valuable materials , such as gold ( in small amounts per unit ) silver, and copper. The Pentium chips are currently worth around $130 for a pound of them. Mother boards are worth money, as are memory chips and other parts. Even the metal and plastic is worth a bit of money.
All most every US household has some type of old, out dated or dead computer items. These common items also have value too.........Cell phones, blackberries, tablets, I phones, game consoles, cable TV control boxes and TV controllers.
If you can follow simple instructions, use simple hand tools, and have a work bench, you can do it. There are many US E scrap buyers that will buy everything that you send them, for CASH. They will pay for the shipping costs via FedEx or UPS, to their location, sort the materials, and send you a cheque, based on their latest payment schedule. My monthly income for operating a one man business, runs around $4000. The profit margin is very high, as my costs are low. A old used van that I bought for $3 k, a work space for $400 a month rent, and printing hand bills and a weekly ad on Craigslist.
It can be done, but it does require ACTUAL EFFORT.
