Banking helpdesk supervisor, work anywhere from 0-2 Saturdays a month for three hours. Once my probation period ends next month, I can work Saturdays from home like the rest of my staff.

Weekends are ALWAYS voluntary. We are paid overtime. Sundays are emergencies only type things and not one has happened during my employment. I believe we are paid double time for those.

Hours outside the range of 7-3 are technically voluntary, but it's often more practical to stay and finish a job if there's only a half hour to an hour worth of work left rather than waste time driving back the following day or even on a Monday to finish that last little bit. Almost everyone stays, but sometimes people do have obligations.

We can start earlier if we want, sometimes with the understanding that we'll be off by 2 which is great for setting up dental appointments, but sometimes just for a bit of overtime. There are times I've gotten bonuses for hitting a certain hour count and that was on top of regular + overtime pay.

Sorry to hear there are people who don't like their work hours. I would recommend looking for other employment or becoming self employed. Feelings of frustration or even anger at one's job are 100% voluntary; do something else.

Software Engineer. I chose the wrong option (never work weekends), I rarely work weekends (Only if deadlines potentially won't be met).

I work for "The County" and have weekends off. We also have flex-time so I work extra Mon-Thu and get a half-day on Friday. I was working a second, weekend job 12 hrs per day for many months. I left when hours were drastically cut. I miss the money but am getting too comfortable with weekends off. I am thinking of picking up another weekend job in the fall....maybe.

My career is working at a school w/ kids, so I never actually go to work on weekends. Bringing work home & doing it there (paperwork) can be an OFTEN occurrence though.

My days off are Friday and Saturday, and this is my choice. I like one weekday off so I can get things done, some businesses are closed on weekends, so Friday is my day to do those things. Things are also less crowded on Friday because everyone else is at work.

Done that schedule for a long time and love it. Sunday is also mellow at work, so it goes by easily.

I work in healthcare; in my department we're required to work every other weekend. I love it as I'd much rather have the days off during the week. I work 12 hour shifts. My work schedule is Mon-Tues/Sat-Sun/Thurs-Fri. Repeat. We get paid $2/hour more on weekends.
