I'm in RV sales. Weekends are a must, as that is when most people are out shopping. I do, however, leave at 3:00p on Wednesday and have Thurs/Fri off. I rarely take my days off, however, normally just taking Thursday off to do work around the house and get my errands done.

I'm a software developer and support person in the airline industry, and I'm still on call (sort of) on weekends, but I rarely get called. Airlines don't sleep, and I support stuff for 300+ of them, so...

Always have weekends off. The only exception was my last position with a tech start-up. I didn't know what days off were for the first 3 months.

Because of that, I will never work for a tech start-up again.

Working weekends now and then really helps me catch up on stuff that needs to get done. I've been in summer mode, but I really need to get back in the habit of working evenings, rotating Saturdays and limiting lunchtime to running out and grabbing something quick!

Do you have a choice as to when to work those 61 hours per week, or does it have to include Saturday?

I'm a software engineer. Weekend work is rare since my work is mostly project based. Generally it makes no sense to work weekends since there isn't actual project time allocated to weekends in the first place. Occasionally if you find yourself slacking off too much during the week, you may to a little work on weekends, but that's not a requirement or expectation from the job itself. It's just you making up for lost time.
