I specifically bid for schedules that work over the weekend, with middle of the week as days off.

i work in IT and sometimes I have to work weekends because that's the quietest time for our business in terms of hardware activity by users.

Chiefly updating firmware on servers, or replacing old or failing hardware in our datacentre.

I do get double-time; or Time In Lieu, for my efforts.

I work in IT and also every OTHER weekend, 12 hour shifts each night. That's my "48 hour" week (4 days, 12 hours each 2-3-2 schedule) I get a shift bonus for working nights and a shift bonus for shiftwork, AND, 8 hours of that week is overtime rate (1.5x). Just that extra 8 hours OT every other week is worth over $12k a year.

I do claims adjudication, and occasionally work Saturday mornings on a voluntary basis. The time is OT paid at 1.5x, and I work from home so I simply log on and do some work. No real obligation to do so, but the pay rate looks nice in my check!

My last two positions were salaried exempt - weekend work was standard in some roles at both places. When I worked hourly, I at least had a weekday off

As a teacher I work one day of the weekend. People think we have all this time off, but we have Saturday tutorials, summer school, trainings, and take home work. I usually work ten hours days during the school week and one day on the weekends.
