I'm going to soon ask a manager at the restaurant where I've been working at for a while how I could become one so I could keep consistent hours in the winter. The only things that I've done that's remotely close to it is chopping up onions one time in my life (no, I didn't hurt myself and everybody said that I was good with the knife), and decorating cupcakes (which was very easy for me). However, I literally have no idea how to do anything else at the moment, and would like to know how to be decent/fast at it. At the same time, I would like to know how I could do it without losing an eye or a hand in the process (I know that there's likely a way). Also, what else would I need to know about it?
I would recommend taking a few CC classes in culinary arts. They will teach you technique, food safety laws and the like.
You have to be quick with your prep tools!
