I worked as a dishwasher for 3 and a half hours this past Saturday for a job tryout. The manager told me at the end that he would probably call me on Monday, which was yesterday. I didn't get a call and I really wanted the job. I don't know if it was because of my performance or if I didn't appear interested or enthusiasts about working there. Do you think I could send a follow--up email to show that I'm interested or at least to let me know why I wasn't hired? I don't really know how to word it though. Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Sounds like they got 3 hours of free dishwashing.

I was thinking this as well. But is there anything I can politely ask or say in an email/phone call to show I'm interested?

So the manager said probably, not definitely. And restaurant work is hectic, so maybe he got busy and calling became low priority on his long list of things to do today.

Give him a call tomorrow. Try to call when you think he won't be busy. So definitely not in the middle of the lunch rush.

What if you could stop by the place? Again not during a meal rush.
