I would quit the job I have now, but give the usual notice because I like those people and wouldn't leave them high and dry like that.
Then I'd mess around for a few months, buying a house, new car, giving some to family members, etc. And then I'd go to school and get a couple degrees for fall back, just in case.
$2.6 million is not much today. You'd probably have to continue working. If i won that much i would quit my job, but only to go to school and get a master's degree and not have the stress of car, mortage, etc. when i got that job out of college.
Someone working at Mconalds is making probably $10,000 a year after taxes. So if they win $2,600,000 they can live an estimated 260 years at their current living conditions. They could live 50 years at a $50,000 year living condition. Or they could buy a $1,000,000 house and live in it and never work again and if they needed well they would only have to work at McDonalds.
The guy should do whatever makes him happy - if working at McD's is that thing, then who the heck are we to criticize?
I sure hope he is investing the money so that the balance doesn't get depleted though... that seems all too often what happens to lottery winners and their winnings. Especially uneducated winners. If I won, I'd do something different - I'd consider it my new full-time job to learn about and then invest the money into small-business or rental property investment. I wouldn't be bored doing that for sure. Boredom from my experience is more of a self-imposed state of mind or habit than a reality... if you're bored then you aren't doing something you could or should be doing with your time.
Spend about 20% put the rest in the bank. Live off intrest. Hunting, fishing, rockhounding, prospecting. Anything to not live in a city or deal with people.

let's see--------the article states he won 2.6 million , but also states 1.3 million. That is very commen with most lotteries as you only get half if you want a lump sum.
Take taxes out of that 1.3 million and you got about $800,000 left.
He better forget about McDonalds and get some education because $800,000 is --NOT-- enough to live on the rest of his life .

I would quit tomorrow! I would go to the Grand Canyon and see it. I have always wanted to but never got to yet.
