I am employed in a technical field, working for a medium-sized firm. I have an amazing boss. She is thoughtful, efficient, and highly supportive of her staff. The only issue is her breath is the most revolting and putrid assault on my senses I have ever encountered. The stench fills whatever room she's in, and I can smell it down the hall. The first time she spoke to me (my first day), I was physically ill after sitting near her. I have noticed that her teeth are black with decay and some are loose. Others in the office have noticed the breath issue as well. This is such a sensitive issue and I am unsure what to do or say?
I have started dabbing Vick's under my nose when she is nearby but I can still smell her breath.

Go to Walmart buy a bottle of TheraBreath Fresh Breath Oral Rinse ($7.67). On the bottle, it states: fights bad breath, works instantly, last for more than 12 hours. This product has great reviews on amazon.com: 4.5 stars with more than 4000 reviews.
When nobody around, put it on her desk. Don't let anyone know you do it. She will get a hint.
Also, as you say she is an amazing boss, if you are generous and feel she deserves some good things, buy a box of TheraBreath Lozenges ($7.97/100 count) and put it on her desk together with the oral rinse.
I hope your company has dental plan benefits for employees there.

Waiting for the "You should do the right thing and gently approach her to tell her about her bad breath" posts.................
I agree with the poster above - put something on her desk to let her know. My guess is she has no idea she has such putrid breath (most people can't smell themselves). Is she married?

This is a tremendously passive-aggressive and ****ty thing to do.

Yes she is and has a daughter. She has been married 25 years.

I have personally used Therabreath and know it's a great product. Problem is, someone will see me if I was walking out of her office when she wasn't there. Plus, her teeth are black with decay-I have not seen people with teeth like that, not even those that have little access to medical care. I do not know how much lozenges and mouthwash will help her at this point.
