At my work, there is horrible working condition problem that nothing is being done about. And after being there for a few months I figure why not talk my coworkers into banding together and striking over it...

I mean you see this happen in the news with other companies, so I figure why not give it a try. However, how does do this, where the co-workers will actually agree with you, rather than just refuse and tell the person they are on their own in trying to do something like that?

Does anyone have any ideas, or have tried something like this before?

This is approximately like asking, "What kind of saw do I use for brain surgery?" - if you have to ask such a fundamental question, attempting the procedure will have you ten feet deep in quicksand before you can blink.

"At will" employment does not usually stand up to a wildcat strike.

Well other organizations have done it, and they didn't need to have an education on how to do it, unlike brain surgery. They did it without any training, so someone who has done it must have a good idea I figure.

How to Go on Strike

Quote:
A strike is a powerful way to change your workplace and secure better wages and benefits. However, you must plan and budget carefully for the strike to be successful. Only members of a recognized labor union can go on strike. If you’re a nonunion employee, there are other ways to negotiate with your employer, such as by forming employee committees.

I work in a meat factory. It says on that link that one cannot strike if I signed a no strike agreement. I don't think I did.

It's far more complex than just walking out front with signs. Anyone can be an idiot in this respect; it takes skill, experience and funding to successfully challenge working conditions, especially without an established union.

So contact your union. They are the experts on this.
