This is one reason why I like working for a Union shop.....one of the few reasons. They change you duties, they negotiate extra pay......also negotiate work hours.

Why not?

You're allowed to go out and about for doctor's appointments, so why not being out and about interviewing?

What kind of job can OP get while he is on medical leave? “We love you when can you start?” “Oh after my medical leave is over”. Are you kidding me? If he’s going out in interviews, OP is either lying about being unable to work, planning to get a job while deceiving his potential employer about both his health/ability to work and his current employment status, or planning to ask a potential employer to hold a spot till he’s no longer disabled. While his current employer is holding a spot. What employer wouldn’t jump to have him under those circumstances? None.

OP are you still sick or not? If not go back to work and interview at lunch or after work. If so, wait till you’re healthy and can tell them when you can start. I don’t see how you can get hired under the current circumstances unless you’re planning to act with no integrity at all and lie to everyone both current and potential employers. Or are you able to work and just pretending you’re too ill to?
