That hasn’t worked for me. I’ve had interviews at a few agencies and nothing. To be honest, I have no skills to offer them and that is not a pessimistic view. Anyone can be an admin assistant or do data entry. I’m also frankly a bit of a weirdo. They are looking for clean cut squares donning suits, even though those kinds of jobs pay menial wages. I’m not going to cut my hair for a low wage.

I’m sorry I’ve been so negative on this thread. I am facing moving back to Iowa from the big city amd living with my mom because I simply can’t find work. I’ve been rejected from everywhere I’ve applied, even with full availability except for Walmart. However I decided against being a cashier because my social skills frankly suck. I also have severe social anxiety. Following up is something I almost never do.

I am looking at dishwashing, stocking, and warehouse work now.

Are you up for weird hours, tedious but easy work and low pay? Maybe check out a job with an inventory service. I did it for about six months and it might be a good start for you to get back on your feet. No real interaction with anyone other than your co-workers and not much with them either TBH. Employee turnover can be high so they always seem to be looking for warm bodies, regardless of what anyone looks like. The biggest challenge (for me anyway) was always having to go to a new location for every assignment.

You'd be surprised at how difficult some people find simple admin. If you're computer literate, you probably do have skills that are applicable to office work. If you can write an e-mail, you can use Microsoft Office. If you've worked in design, do you know CAD? You don't have to look for nuclear project administration or quality control, you can still re-fit yourself to be applicable to office work, the key is to be FAST about vacancies as employers often get drenched in candidates the minute they put up a vacancy.

You don't have to, some companies tend to have different beliefs about how staff should present themselves especially everything is now "all inclusive" and that kind of perspective. For instance there's a guy in the call center downstairs below me who looks like Carrot Top. Come to think he might even be Carrot Top.

Would WM let you do the shelf restocking, that would require minimal interaction with customers. Good luck.

I am not trying to sound harsh, but at some point, you have to just suck it up and do what you have to do. You have to stop making excuses. People with mental health problems work everyday, in all types of jobs. I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder. I worked in customer service for 10 years. I did fast food, I was a server, I even worked in sales. Was it hard and did I want to quit in the beginning? Yes. But I had to work, I had to have a job. I didn't have the luxury of being unemployed for any period of time.

I get compliments on my resume and my interview skills. They see my years of working with the public and trust that I can handle pressure, conflict, etc. Facing the things that give me such anxiety benefited me in so many ways. I hate to think of where I would be in life if I hadn't pushed myself into those horribly uncomfortable situations. I remember going in the back and crying at my sales job, more than once! It got better and I grew as a person. I needed those jobs to get me to where I wanted to be.

Work on your interview skills: look up common questions and actually sit down and practice your answers. Apply for any and all dish washing, stocking, warehouse jobs. Look into inventory jobs, janitorial jobs, etc. Walmart has more than just cashier positions, but you won't know unless you follow up. Use your situation as motivation. I am sensitive to mental health, but don't just automatically sell yourself short because you find something challenging. You might just surprise yourself. There is also nothing wrong with getting professional help to learn how to cope and manage your anxieties. If you cannot afford that, there's a lot of info online that you may find helpful.
