I’ll be doing a disservice to the people by joining the military when I’m fully aware of my mental instability. I will just focus on getting my high school diploma and finding a job. Thank you all for your responses.

"..rehearsing everything I'm going to say..."
Wondering if this is a compulsion/OCD.
Basic training puts a lot of pressure on you by nature. You have to think fast, react fast.
Who knows? You might thrive! Or you may have a meltdown. What's it worth to you? If you want something badly enough you can do it.
Seems you'd have to withhold info about your mental health. You might avoid a job that arms you up.

If you join the military, go for the Air Force. Hurry, age limit is 27.

No military.

It's definitely not for someone in your situation. I've been on and off anxiety and depression because of losing both of my parents in college. I would never dream of joining the military because of that.

Look into Job Corp. or a training program for a trade.

The military isn't what it was 25 years ago when they would take almost anyone.

The military is picky.

OP I'm afraid you are not cut out for the military.

Get your GED then go to a Tech School and learn a trade. Plumbers, electricians, etc make fantastic money. Learn a trade and have a good life.

Good luck to you, OP.
