I would like to stay with a family or atleast in the community of a safe area, where I can practice Spanish for two months.

Can you recommend any great schools? Or tell me which schools to avoid? They all look the same on the internet, and I am sure some are exceptional schools and some are awful schools.

I believe there is a language school in Bournemouth, UK but I don't have details. My husband told me about it.

Well, I was in Barcelona last year...and Mallorca, but I didn't stay long enough to investigate their schools.

My advice is to try to go through your community college. For example, my cc has a spanish abroad program in costa rica and belize.

Or

You can do like I did when I studied in France, I just went to the library and withdrew books on the subject. Also, the consulate had lists of accredited schools.
I ended up at Caen University. During the summer they offer summer French classes. So, look at university programs, they are usually vey good.
Or you can check out the AYH hostels, sometimes there are accredited schools located near to the hostels.

Or you can check out the daily planet, usually the backpacker type hostel and travel guides have listings of language schools. You can investigate this for free at any Borders bookstore.

have fun and good luck!

The OP is one year old but since some one revived this thread I had to laugh at it. They live in Oakland, California and want to go to school to learn Spanish? Sheesh just walk outside your front door where Spanish is the dominant language. He can learn for free.

I have no reason why though why though since English is still the one and only official language of The Peoples Republic of the United States of Mexico.

The post is a year old and dead for true but then a next poster pops up tonight to resurrect it with the basic broken English routine to plead for some help. Oh, big yawn and wondering why posters fall for it? Huge yawn for true! (closest I can come to a yawn!)
