In a decision made public yesterday, a judge has ordered CNN “to rehire 110 workers who were fired because they were union members. CNN also was ordered to recognize the workers’ unions, National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians-CWA (NABET-CWA) locals 31 and 11.” From the AFL-CIO blog:

Think Progress » Judge orders CNN to rehire 110 workers fired for belonging to a union.

Just like several of the liberals I know do everything they can to hide their money to avoid paying taxes, and then get upset when they find out someone else is doing the same thing. Just because they feel that the rules are best for the group does not mean they feel they need to participate in following the rules.

France's issues have less to do with unions, and more to do with an inept government owning several of the major industries and destroying them while not creating decent jobs. Incidentally the same thing that many in this country would like to have happen in this country, no more major industry private ownership, only the government screwing more up.

Another question I have to ask as I only see you post pro-union hype, what do you have to say about the unions that are currently connected with the airlines, the Auto industry, and the US postal service? You know three different industries that who are surviving on tax payer money while many of the employees are being paid 2-3 times more then they would make at a non union job. In fact could you give me one union type industry that is actually creating jobs and expanding without the support of the government?

Wiley---Like any other economic player the union's job is to maximize it's intake and minimize it's outgo. When people band together as corporations to do this it's called the "American Way", when people band together as unions to do this it's "communism" and "bad for business". That people in unions make more money than those who don't is PRECISELY the point of unions and not one unions have to apologize for.

In any event the problems of the Big Three and the airlines should be laid at the doors of management. Management sure doesn't need the presence of unions to make stupid decisions, look at the banking and finance industries.

Look at the furniture industry; it moved from heavily union western Michigan to non union North Carolina a generation ago. Now the industry has moved to China. Even being non union Americans can't compete with a business that's dead set on having the cheapest labor.
