Im moving to NYC after graduation and i would love to work in a crime lab working with trace evidence, DNA analysis and the like. Im having a really hard time finding job openings in nyc though. I'm also interested in Research and development in pharmaceuticals(drug development, animal dosing etc) I'v hit up all the job sites, government websites and the Forensics national websites...Are there any other places i should be looking?

Boston is the place to go for pharmaceutical jobs but with the 70 or so colleges in the area it might be slim pickings. I believe that it's pharm.

As for forensics and any other job......you have to be willing to start at the bottom, often times in an unrelated field, gaining experience as you work your way up into the position that you want.

Based on your career choices I am assuming that you are receiving a degree in biology/chemistry or biochem? If your school has a career center, that might be a good place to start. Your advisor? Any professors?

Its biology. My career center isn't as helpful as I would like. They perform well with resumes but when I come in armed with my notes and plans they seem a little lost. I don't think Forensics is something they have much knowledge about. Im more then willing to work at the bottom lol in fact I'd prefer it so i can learn as much as I can. Its just rather hard to find openings. I don't know if Im not using the correct search terms cause careerrbuilder and monster never get it right. Although one of my professors started out working at Dupont and shes been a wonderful help but the jobs openings just arent there i think..or maybe they are in other places and im dead set on living in nyc for at least 3 years.

You might want to look into the FBI as well.

the FBI site is very intimidating especially the career section. I notice they have a page for the laboratory's but they dont have a link to actually find jobs there. I contacted the FBI in NYC but they just referred me to the FBI careers website(where i had no luck ) I shall keep looking!
