Does anyone know of any districts that will be hiring for the next school year? (2009-2010). I have a teaching job and very thankful to have a job right now. However, I need to move out of Yuma, AZ because I developed asthma there from the pesticides. It is a farming community. The pesticides are my main trigger. I really need to keep employment because I am single and have no one to support me financially. Since I am single, I am will to move anywhere that is not an agricultural community and is a nice safe area for a single female to live.

You definately need to provide more info. What you teach is very important info. Some teaching areas are needed more than others (like special ed.).

Next, you really need to decide where you want to be soon. Getting your teaching certificate in another state takes a lot of time and money. Most states require the Praxsis. The exact exams required for your certificate vary from state to state.

To answer your other question, many states are threatening layoffs and hiring freezes. So, I'm not exactly sure where teachers are needed. Still, if you teach a high need area and have experience, it's possible that you'll find a job. You can also sub in an area that you would like to teach in with the hope the you'll eventually get a full -time job.

I am teaching elementary education, but have ESL experience. I can't sub because I need the benefits. I have asthma and without health insurance my medication would run me at least 600 dollars a month.

Definitely check out our district. We have a number of spanish speaking students moving to our community and the ESL experience would be a big benefit. Look at ccsd.k12.wy.us
