I had two jobs that paid weekly and I noticed that I spent quite a bit more money. I guess getting a paycheck so often, I never really worried about budgeting. Getting paid monthly was horrible for me, and now I'm back on bi weekly and it's good.

Regarding the bill due date thing, I just pay my bills early. Me, my boyfriend and my sister all live together and rent is due on the 1st, but we pay it near the 20th, since that is when we all get paid. Utility bills come in shortly after the first paycheck of the month, so we pay utilities with that. Works out pretty good and nothing is ever late.

I haven't been paid weekly in forever, and semi-monthly for the past 12 years. Every other week can take a bit of an adjustment since the pay dates are always changing. On the other hand, semi-monthly (15th & 30/31st) is a breeze. Rent or mortgage out of the end of month check, everything else out of the other.

As someone who has processed payroll in the past I definitely think weekly would be way too much work!

At my former employer, they paid semi-monthly (15th and the last day of the month). If the 15th or last day was a weekend, you'd be paid on the Friday prior. That was cool.
I think it worked in that you could time the payment of your bills.

But it was hard sometimes because there could potentially be 3 weekends living off the same check. (If the 15th is a Sunday, you'd be paid on the 13th- Friday, so you'd have 14-15th, 21-22nd, and 28-29th on the same check) Not saying that I was some party animal, but that third weekend could be TIGHT!!!

Where I am now I am paid every other week. I like it, because you have an 'on' week and an 'off' week, in my terms. It's hard to plan ahead, though, unless you pull out a calendar and count every other week.

At Wells Fargo Bank I was paid bi-monthly and I hated it...particularly at 9:00 dollars hour....I was always broke after bills were paid and waitng three weeks for a paycheck would have me walking to Tijuana to sell a kidney....;-)

bi-weekly is Much Better! one check to pay rent...and one check to pay cell phone and treat myself to something on Ebay...;-)

I get paid bi-weekly while the wife gets paid monthly. This has never been an issue as we do not live from week to week on our paychecks.

In my past jobs I have gotten paid weekly and was always surprised at how people never had money by the end of the week. (Of course our spending tends to be done on the credit card of which we pay off in full every month)

I remember having office jobs and getting paid weekly. What has happened is places go to the every 2 weeks because it's probably less work (less payroll time). Meanwhile, the company or business holds on to the money a little longer.

That is what I was thinking as well........ particularly if you have over 100 employees...

I've been paid bi-weekly for my entire professional career. I think I'm too used to it.

You want me to list them all? Becuase I'm obviously lying right?

Many factories and warehouses have paid me weekly, as was many of my highschool jobs, Denny's restaraunt did, IIRC, though it was nearly 15 years ago. I know Grainger did when I worked for them. Smurfit-Stone, a corregated board manufacturer did when I worked for them back in 02.
