I would check with the unemployment office before you quit your part time job. Here, in PA, if you quit your job; you are not allowed to collect unemployment. I know that you said you were laid off from your primary job; but I have no idea how that would play out if you quit your part time job. It is better to check before you make any major decisions.

I have a neighbor in his 20s that just quit a part time job because he was angry that he was not given a full time position. He quit just weeks before the scheduled shutdown. Now he cannot collect. It pays to know the system.

Is there a chance that Amazon will lay you off around Xmas? Here and maybe in NY (?); you will have to apply to three jobs each week to still qualify for benefits. If you are laid off by Amazon, but have a letter or notice of intent to rehire; you could forgo the mandatory three applications each week. It pays to visit their website or to speak to your unemployment office (if the website does not have the answers).

Your claim for benefits will be approved based on the lay-off from your full time job.

Your actual weekly benefit payment will be reduced or possibly zeroed out (offset) depending on how much you make from the part-time job.

If you quit the part time job after being laid off from the full time job, unless you can show just cause for quitting the part time job, your benefits will be cut off from the date of the quit until you purge the disqualification with new work.

You need to be laid off from the part time job or the "offered" hours needs to drop below NY's threshold for suitable work hours/wages.

FYI, in the future, when working a full time job and a part time job, if the full time job is ending through no fault of your own, you need to quit the part-time job before the full time position ends. It's not disqualifying to quit a part-time job to focus on full time work while still employed. Remember, it's the reason you last became unemployed that determines benefits at that time. So if you now quit the part time job, that quit becomes the now reason for being unemployed and it has to be for a just cause.
