Anybody making money on scriptlance,elance, odesk, guru, etc? (jobs, income, good)

Is there any money to be made on these sites?
I am looking to pull in some side income, say 500 a week or so?
Is there enough going on there somebody could make some money?
I work in IT...can do code/scripting/database/systems/network stuff and learn very fast depending on what people are buying.
Need a bit of extra $.

Thoughts? Or are these sites not worth the time?

Wanted to shoot out a message before devoting much time towards getting established on the sites.

Not worth the time unless you want to be competing with people in 3rd world countries who can work for $2 an hour. Most of the clients who post jobs there are price buyers. They only care about the lowest bid.

You're better off setting yourself up as a freelancer and doing your own marketing.
