Why is it that so many americans are scared to start their own business and are depending on others to make work/jobs for them?

Capital requirements, liability issues, etc. I think most people are better off as employees.

Health care, especially if you have a family to support.

I'm not sure who backtar is, since there are only a few posts. I'm also not too certain about the tone of the post.

Assuming this is sincere, you do not just snap your fingers and start a business. I am tired of "start a business" being proposed as another magic bullet to a massive employment problem.

Are these even valid questions? Kind of like "Why did you shoot your mother?"

Agree - it's all about having group health care.

Besides, even if you own your own business, you are dependent on others to "make work" for you. Someone has to purchase your product and/or service.

The people who go on and on about how everyone should start their own business are usually the people who are the least knowledgeable about what it actually takes and the risks involved.

Not everyone has the business sense to start up a business.
