I had a neighbor who worked there and got fired. She said the same thing. But also said it was very anti-female. She got fired for defending herself verbally from a co-worker, male, who's boss was also male. She tryed to fight it for 2 years to no avail. How true all this is, who knows?
But you have to have the mentality right now that it's only part-time and only a means to an end.
Don't quit right now, until you have something to go to. Employment is a gift these days, let alone bennies.

I did 15 years with UPS.

Loader, unloader, preload, driver, revenue recovery clerk.

What's your question?

My friend started there part time and moved to full time driver.

Absolutely loves it.

I heard everything is run on a stopwatch with UPS. They time everything from how quick trucks get loaded to how quick the drivers make a delivery - which is why it seems those UPS drivers are always running to and from their trucks at each stop!

I worked unloading and loading their aircraft as a teenager. An awesome job for someone needing benefits - there were a lot of moms and dads working part time to get benefits for their families there. I never once was yelled at or treated badly.

I have a friend who taught school and worked UPS part-time. He quit teaching in June to go full-time with UPS.

I worked UPS PT night being a car washer back in college. My Supervisors weren't "yellers" and some were cool but mostly it's a "Boy's" place.

I work the Pre Load and everything is run on a stop watch.... ive been there 4 years and absolutley hate getting up at 3 in the morning. those are the only hours my other job can work around though. I just hate the feeling of them yelling all the time. i wish i new how i could get the benefits w/o UPS.

Preload sucks massively. The supervisors are wound up about about getting the trucks loaded and out the door on time, and all the noise and grime and hostility at 4 fricking in the morning. I couldn't take preload, I got out after six months.

If you're stuck working the preload, the best job is yard shifter. Look into it.

The best shift to work in the building is twilight. Full time management has gone home. All you're doing is sorting the end of day unload and there is nobody in the building over the age of 25, and definitely no suits. Twilight is the most mellow shift inside the building. You go home about 9:30 and still have time for dinner and to bed at a decent hour.

Avoid day shift in the hub. Nothing but angry managers.

Put yourself on every bid list that gets posted. Bid on anything that comes open. Get out of preload. It only took me one 6 month sentence to bid out of preload.
