my family will be having the opportunity to travel to different countries to live there for a couple of years. We have 4 kids under 6 years. Do you think that this will be a benefit for them or do you think that it might affect them ?
Thanks for all your help!
P.S: we'll be at each country for at least 3 years.

You don't mention which countries your family will have the opportunity to live in. That's a very important part of any decision.

I wouldn't be inclined to move my family to any country where they would run the risk of having their personal safety compromised because of their nationality. Nor would I expose my family to a lifestyle where they would face blatant discrimination due to their religion.

In other words, no war zones and no religion-based regimes.

Will it affect your kids?

Of course it will, but that isn't necessarily a minus. Exposure to other cultures tends to encourage tolerance. It also offers the chance to learn other languages, and to "see" a variety of world history.

Your kids are young enough that they shouldn't resent moving yet; by the time they hit their early teens, that may change.

The most important part of this decision is what you and your spouse feel are what experiences you feel your children should have. Is being a citizen of the world more important than staying in their birth country and nurturing a great sense of extended family and country?
