You can't stay in Thailand for 3 months without a visa, unless you're flying in and out every 30 days.
You get a 30 day visa for flights; 15 days for land crossings.
What country do you hold a passport from? All visas are dependent on that.
Thailand Visa Requirements for US Citizens If you are a U.S. citizen tourist staying for fewer than 30 days, you do not require a visa, but your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your entry into Thailand. You may be asked to show an onward/return ticket. If you enter Thailand by air without a visa, you are allowed to stay in Thailand for 30 days per visit. If you enter Thailand by land without a visa, you are allowed to stay in Thailand for 15 days per visit. In either case, if you have entered Thailand without a visa, you cannot remain in Thailand for more than 90 days during any six-month period, counting from the date of first entry.

Depends on your nationality....if you are an American or European or Australian or Canadian...you have a lot more options than if you aren't...for tourist visas without going to embassy before going.
If you are planning to emigrate....most of the world is off-limits....but Americas...i.e. North, Central, and South American countries....they all vary, but they're a lot more open to it than anywhere else in the world. Plus OZ/NZ.
Depends on your citizenship. If you have an EU citizenship, you can move to pretty much every European country without having to get a visa. If you're American... you're chances are more limited. I don't think there are many countries that let people in without a visa, especially not if you intend to work there. Canada and Australia let in a fair amount of people and it is quite easy to get permanent residency, but only if you fit their immigraiton criteria.
If you are Jewish or have either a Jewish parent or a Jewish grandparent you can immigrate to Israel but you still have to apply for an immigrant visa.

If you are planning to leave the US permanently, it's crazy to get US citizenship - you would have to file a US tax return every year for the rest of your life !

Not if you are just visiting. But if you plan on moving there you'd need one unless you're a EU citizen (plus some more minor requirements sometimes).
