Chicken fried steak is essentially Americanized schnitzel. That's all.

Not the healthiest dish, but everyone should try it atleast once before they die. CFS with a side of mashed potatoes and green peas is one of my favorite meals.

Because Steak =/= Chicken

Cubesteak is simply a cheap, tough steak that has been thoroughly mashed with a meat tenderizer. Also sometimes called 'minute steak'.

I am from India and the following three can be found in abundance:

- red velvet cakes

- Milkshakes - The northern part of India takes special pride in downing huge tumblars of milk. Besides milkshakes, you will also find lassi which happens to be curd diluted with water and then gone through a blender to make a smooth, forthy drink. This is then sprinkled with generous helpings of dried fruits and sometimes rose essence.

- Flavored popcorn - You can find all the flavors here and some more Indianised flavors like masala pop-corn; lip-smacking and falvorful.

- Chicken is pretty common but don't think I have seen many places selling chicken-steak probably because steak would get associated with Beef in India which is a huge no-no for the majority of the population.

Exactly ! I am glad you said this. All southern type food is not drowning in oil and I have seen deep fried meats and fritters that are a culinary delight. As in all regions and countries, some people can cook better than others. I love Vietnamese, Thai and other SE Asian foods. I have tried Pad Thai in Bangkok, Washington DC, Charlotte, etc, etc, and the best I ever had was in little old Lakeland, Florida, eatery since closed for failure to pay sales tax. My point being, not all regional (southern) food is laden with oil and salt or boiled to death and red velvet cake, when made from scratch, is an orgasmic experience, I think.......LOL. I love most regional and international foods, Mexican not as much so. I have never developed a liking for sweet cornbread though.

Really fun topic to read

Here in Argentina:

- chili dogs: are chili dogs hot dogs with chili? cause hot dogs are VERY popular here but chili its not, at all. You can find your regular hot dog with mustard everywhere, though, but not the chili.

- corn dogs: Not at all. I dont even know what that is and i think most people in argentina dont know either.

- red velvet cake : No. No idea what that is.

- milkshakes: I know what this is and its delicious. Thank god i only had one of those once in my life (i dont think is good for your health). They are NOT popular here. You can find them, yes, in a lot of ice cream places and american delis (in Buenos Aires, where i live, there are millions of american/usa style delis where you can find all of this stuff, but i will answer from an argentinian POV wich is very different that a BA citizen POV in terms of food, cause here you can find everything from everywhere) but they are not popular.

- flavored popcorn: popcorn IS popular here. Very consumed in cinema, too. But i dont think it has many flavours. Mostly sugar or salt and thats it.

- chicken-fried-steak: is this fried chicken or a different thing? friend chicken can be found in mc donalds, burguer king, wendys, tgi fridays, or one of the million american delis that are here but its not popular in our cuisine. Chicken here is eated grilled, barbecued or cooked in the oven.

It may be called chicken fried steak, but as I understand it there's no chicken in the recipe at all.

If you want to stay healthy, you should give this heart attack on a plate a miss.
