Those with inferior degrees may get the job done. But they are simply worker bees. Their overall level of intelligence, innovative ability and frequency of stellar performance are significantly less than those with better academic credentials. The whole profession declines.

You can get by with a Hyundai. But let's not pretend it's the same as a Mercedes.

But presumably it's for companies to decide what level of skill they need in a given employee?

FWIW, it's not always the case that a better qualified or more intelligent person will do a better job. In a low-level IT job, you need someone who can say the words 'have you tried rebooting' lots of times a day, not someone with a doctorate in computer science who can explain all the possible causes of the problem in detail. But we're getting OT.

ETA that for a typical journey a Hyundai will get you to your destination just as quickly as a Merc, and with more spending money leftover when you get there.

“European voters punish the left” says BBC | EUTimes.net

you're right. which usually results in riots between immigrants and europeans, which is exactly what happened in brussels not too long ago.

now you're just generalizing. no, they are not "anti-intellectual." you are ignorant if you think that they are "anti-intellectual." you are taking a couple obnoxious morons and using them as poster children for patriotism to suit your own ignorant idea againts patriotism. some are more religious, some are less religious. again, you are basing your claims off of a few loudmouths the media tries to hunt down for hours so they can edit all the patriots with common sense out and insert into the air time all of the morons.

tell that to san francisco.

money isn't "everything" in america. again, you're being ignorant. money is important, yes, but not everything. money puts food on your table, money is the center of everything but not everything. money puts everything into its place. money keeps you alive. but to imply that americans only care about money as if they would disown their family for money is ridiculous and ignorant. money is a necessity, but to imply that americans care more about money than their family is moronic.

you don't know culture. a liberal like you, you don't know culture. you stand for the extinction of culture. you stand against patriotism and nationalism, which leads me to believe you are more than happy with the result of the european union, lax immigration policy and open borders. and you're going to tell me that you love culture, when it is policy that you support that is destroying our culture and causing the infestation in europe and america.
I like that you try to lampoon people's generalizations and then going into one particularly huge swerve of generalization.

Also, soccer hooligans are pretty much just that even if they are heavily nationalistic. They're generally drunken young twentysomething males that most people, including other young twentysomething males, find ridiculous.

I think there are some things we can probably agree on, especially the idea that Americans care more about money than their families (it's generally people care about money because they want what they feel is best for their families even though that backfires sometimes) but the characterizations you're drawing of the other side isn't among them.

The only issue being that a lot of those workers aren't actually inferior. They're willing to work for less because they can attain a lot more working here for the same skillsets than they would have back home. We have the capital, we have the infrastructure, so we attract highly skilled workers from outside.

Added to that, our education system has been overall underfunded and poorly monitored so that we aren't able to create a strong and large enough supply of our own--except among the wealthy who do fine compared to other nations and brings us to a whole other can of worms.

The United States is way over-rated in my opinion. In the US, if you are on street and have no insurance, then there is no one who cares about you and you are probably left to die.

People in America and in many other countries for that matter, do not have the sentiments as in some other countries for instance, like in Israel for example, where they people more or less care about the poor and homeless.

Agreed. it is especially disgraceful to see homeless veterans in the US. They get chewed up and spit out on the street like pieces of garbage.

Sure, unless those poor and homeless people happen to be amongst the descendants of the 700,000+ people made poor and homeless overnight when Israel was formed...

When we landed back in the states, I realized just how stressed out we are here. Just my thoughts.

Germans have 20-25 days off a year. Some maybe 30 but 25 is an average in the EU countries. So not 2 months!
Most people in Europe do NOT travel all the time because they have no money. Most do NOT visit cultural places but go to Spain and drink on the beach during their yearly vacation.
Most countries have strict anti-tobacco laws and you can no more smoke in a restaurant or bar. Alcohol prices are outrageous in tourist spots.
Everything is way different when you live in a country than when you just visit it. I lived in Vienna and many people of the middle class I knew could afford none or only 1 car per family and maybe 1 week of a vacation.

Gas prices are as twice as high as in the US and you have to pay tons of taxes and fees to drive. There is a constant lack of parking space and people drive way aggressive.
Aside the tourist spots most main cities in Europe have lots of problems with riots, immigration and poverty...
The good times are over and life is way nicer and easier in the US. Everyone is also nicer and more helpful. I do love the United States and am not ashamed to admit it.

Says who? Americans are always talking about the American Dream, yet their social mobility is similar many other Western countries. People have plenty of opportunities in other countries as well, we just don't spread the "German/Dutch/French/European Dream" propaganda the same way.

As much as many Americans refuse to believe it, most Europeans are pretty happy there as well and are not longing to move to the US.

This is coming from someone who lived on both sides of the puddle. Believe it or not, the middle class life is not that different, taking a few things aside.
Agree! I have lived on both sides also. Most Americans who live in Europe don't want to come back!

Well, European countries do tend to have richer cultures and histories than most of America. If only we could bring more of that into the states.
