Which American accent? There's different ones, like how there's different accents across England

I'm so used hearing General American English on TV and the radio that I've come to consider it as perfectly normal.

Funny, I usually consider British English to be way more stuck up and arrogant.
Anyway, I speak with an American (Wisconsin) accent, so for me: American English all the way. I don't find it sexy or cool though. Just normal. Weird is your poll.

There are a large number of accents just in England, and even more if you consider the rest of the U.K.....some of them sound like they might be High Middle Neanderthal.

The American accent I grew up with is really annoying...piercingly nasalized vowels, fortunately I lost it when I went to university where other accents predominated.

However, some regional U.S. accents are far more pleasant.

Everybody knows that there is more than one American accent -- and yes, some of them are annoying, even to Americans.

But I have no gripe at all with the "standard" American accent (network news anchorperson accent), which I presume is the one that my own accent most resembles.

I have a soft spot for extreme southern accents since I grew up in Mississippi, but I can easily imagine most people hating that accent.

I do not like Boston - Brooklyn - Bronx accents at all.
