Penthouses in
The Strip, Las Vegas (Paradise whatever i call it Vegas)
Midtown Manhattan, New York
Kensington and Chelsea, London
Bangkok, Thailand
Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong
Shibuya, Tokyo
Villas in
Beverly Hills, Los Angeles
Palm Island/Hibiscus Island, Miami
Eindhoven, Netherlands (for my parents)
Somewhere in Italy where the women look like models
As far as possible from the kinds of places the OP picked.
Maybe some of these:
A medium sized town in Myanmar.
A country house around Tierradentro, Colombia
The Comoro Islands.
The only city I'd be able to stand would probably be Singapore.
The climate would need to be hot the year round.
Back in the 70s, I thought I'd love to live in an apartment overlooking the ferry landing in Istanbul, and sit there all day and watch the ferries from Asia unload their camel herders and gypsy caravans and truck loads of goods from India. But now, with a bridge (1973), the other side is just a huge suburb of Istanbul, and the traffic would be like New York commuters coming from New Jersey.
My list, not the top 10, just the ones off the top of my head:
-Valle d'Aosta in the Italian Alps, under the shadow of Monte Bianco, Monte Rosa and Monte Cervino (Matterhorn)
-Cambridge, England
-Any small town in Ireland
-Village of Cooperstown, Upstate New York
-Laguna Beach, husband's hometown, but as it was in the '50s, '60s, '70s, and early '80s, before all the young millionaires started throwing their money around and spoiled it all
-Santorini, Greece
-Whitefish, Montana
-Bora Bora, Tahiti
-Positano, Italy
-Pebble Beach, California

2) A house somewhere in the greater L.A. area (Calabasas, Malibu, etc.) This would be my main residence.
3) A house somewhere on/very near the ocean in California (Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Laguna Beach,
O.C., etc.)
4) A house in Chicago [preferably in the north shore suburbs] (kind of random but my parents are from there and I visit often and have lots of relatives there)
5) Penthouse in London (Kensington, Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, etc.)
6)Penthouse in Tokyo (Shibuya, Ginza, etc.)
7) Penthouse somewhere on Sydney Harbor with views of the Opera House/bridge/city and the water
8) A house on the island of Capri in Italy with spectacular views
9) A house in Monaco
10) A house somewhere either in Alaska or British Columbia that is in the middle of nature with beautiful mountains, rivers, lakes, trees, etc. all surrounding it.
Mind you, the "houses" would all be beautiful mansions decked out with ultra-modern interiors and other things that are my taste.
