Here's a handy website that uses two maps to determine antipodes. Slide the upper map so the pin is at the desired original spot which will automatically show the opposite destination on the lower map. You can click the plus and minus buttons to magnify or reduce the maps for details.

I'm either in the US or Thailand. For me, the exact opposites put me in either the Indian Ocean somewhat southeast of South Africa, or in the Pacific Ocean off the west coast of Chile. I doubt I'll be visiting either spot any time soon.

^^^ Great site. Thanks

Thanks to the maps, I've found four exact antipodes I've been at:

Near Sanjiang, Guangxi, China, and south of Taltal, Chile.
Campo 48, Chaco, Paraguay, and Nanzin District, Taiwan
Camano, Peru, and north of Hue, Vietnam
Pekanbaru. Sumatra, and Tambillo, Ecuador

Each of them where roads would cross, so they are exact to the millimeter.

Rudyard, Montana, is the only US community on land andipodes, opposite Kerguelen, which straddles the US-Canada border. Antipodes for St Paul Island are near the edge of US 40 between Cheyenne Wells and Kit Carson Colorado. And for Amsterdam Island, 4 miles southeast of Lamar Colorado. I've been in the Kerguelen antipodes (but not to Kerguelen), on route 13 between Alberta and Saskachewan. Great place to see McCown's Longspurs, if you're a birdwatcher.

All of Hawaii is antipodal to points in Botswana, with difficult access in the desert north. I've been to Botswana but not Hawaii.

Our close antipodes are the Azores islands in the Atlantic Ocean.

Lucky New Zealanders have Spain & Portugal beneath their feet.
