People are idiots and believe anything you tell them, you could tell them that the sky is pink in Saudi and they'd believe you.
Yes I know what's allowed in the compounds and how badly marked the signs are but getting that "lost".... well
You don't really know much. Mecca is near Jeddah, if you actually could drive in KSA ( ) you'd know how easy that **** up is. It happened to my gf's dad, and then many of my military friends later. How's that for a coincidence, princess?
Id love to visit all of them. espcially Iran, which ive heard several times is a great place to visit.
Would give Syria and Iraq a miss at the moment however.
Edit:
Ran out of time had to log out as at work: I did a Kumuka tour through Egypt Jordan Syria and Turkey 10 years ago, overall i enjoyed it and saw lots of interesting things, the hardest thing to get used to is the constant barrage of people contantly try to assist you "for a small fee", the people who try to constatly rip you off, and the bargining culture.
You get used to it after a while, you just have to treat it as a bit of fun.

We had some Iranian friends who'd migrated here and they said that Iran was generally a safe place to visit, I don't think most Iranians would have a problem with foreigners, except possibly Americans or people they perceived were a threat to their Muslim culture.
