That's true, but I couldn't find any good photos of it. I think it's accurate to say that Montreal has many different mainstreets to choose from.
Yeah, for some reason it's really hard to find a good pic of Sainte-Catherine. But that (and Saint-Laurent's nickname of the "Main") notwithstanding, Sainte-Catherine is the uncontested queen bee of Montreal streets.
it's a pretty nice street. only downside is the large empty square in front of the arts museeum (in the distance to the right). it reeks communism/eastern state.
My favorite place in Seoul is Hongdae. It's the party center for the students of Hongik University. There are so many clubs and little shopping centers, it's me and my daughters favorite place to go.
Here in Turin the some of the main streets are probably Via Roma and Via Po http://static.panoramio.com/photos/large/10421348.jpg
via Roma during the "luci d'artista" = "artist lights", an event that took place every year near Christmas. Usually the road it's not completely reserved for pedestrian, but in the central part can pass cars and also bus. Usually the pedestrian walk under the arcades http://www.vbs50.com/foto/fotocitta/...via%20Roma.JPG a lot of streets in the cities center have arcades, that are really useful in rainy days.
However the real centers of the city are the squares, like "piazza castello", "piazza san carlo", "piazza vittorio veneto" and so on. http://www.museotorino.it/images/12/...1.jpg?VSCL=100 (piazza castello)
also around those squares there are arcades.
The most of Turin streets are completely straight and perpendicular one with each others (here in italy that's a quite rare thing). We have also the longest straight road of Europe, Corso Francia, that pass also through some near cities and is 13 Km long! File:Corso Francia Torino.jpg - Wikipedia
(a view of corso Francia).
...and this is what downtown of the town where I live now looks like
...and if it looks European, that's because it has been built by French))))
Ahh i know where this is
