Everyone can go to the moon, just go to central Nevada in the middle of the night.

Probaly the proudest thing for me about being Irish was when we got independence from the British who were the biggest empire in the world.

Amhrán na bhFiann - YouTube

This still brings a tear to my eye.

I'm not sure if you are being snarky and comparing the US to the Nazis regime or the Arab states to Nazis.

For the record, Iranians are not Arabs, and Afghanistan is not Arab either. Iraq is an Arab state.

Two things stand out:
Winning the America's Cup in 1983. (with Men at Work's Down Under song blaring on the screen, and the then Prime Minister Bob Hawke declaring "" any boss that sacks someone for not turning up to work today is a mug"")
Winning and hosting the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
No surprise that these are all sporting moments and events here, it is very biased here towards this.

I am being facetious I think the world trusts the U.S. too much for their own good. We are an existential threat to all other nations. Nations that don't wish to be a colonial extension of the U.S. should have a policy of containment, but instead they are addicted to to our culture of consumption.

I guess I'm not really proud of anything my country has done, but the power we wield is awe inspiring.

Pretty much the same about what I think about the British Empire. I'm sure I wouldn't like it much if a more advanced country came here and started calling the shots "for our own good", but it's quite staggering that such a small country as ours could ever have punched so far above its own weight.

Don't think being proud of ones country should be competitive!
