The definition in Europe was exactly the same, until some politicians started to get a lot of votes saying that the "multiculturalist model" was a failure.

But I guess that the only serious "professional multicultural individuals" are those that provoke riots, overburden social security, burn cars and are always calling everybody a racist.

Well, I believe some of ths modern theory was really just crowd control by governments who wanted peace and the economic spending on and by the usual low-wage immigrant and the brainwork of the better educated/skilled expertise of the trained immigre. As with most European countries, America suffers a low birth rate and Asia scares the hell out of them.

I find that most people who bandy about 'multicultural' as a code word do so as a positive avowal of their political beliefs, usually members of academia (especially social & poltical science majors), 'leftist' journalists and yes, protesters/'hippies' & their antonym the race-baiters. So-called right-wingers willl hem & haw to create a talking point but that is to keep their followers placated while winning votes while so-called left-wingers hope they will so the same to free people from corporate tyranny. Both 'groups' want them to cook their food, clean their houses and generally be acceptable to respectable American culture, FWIW. Generalizations, but not to far off the mark though there has been some drifting due to the boisterous desire to turn this year's election pageantry into something it can truly never really be: meaningful.
