No, Australia is pretty similar, although at my school it was never as bad as I saw on movies and stuff. Other schools were probably worse.

Don't forget that the South is part of America too.
This is true for political office because of the way demographics and voting patterns are in America.

However, you can certainly be a world-renowned inventor or entrepreneur and be an atheist. Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Mark Zuckerberg are.

From what it seems people here say they want to be an individual so they can preach their ideas to others. In other words "freedom of speech but only for those who agree".

A sizable portion of the population buys into the Republican anti-science BS. Apparently evolution is just a theory. Apparently, there is "debate" about climate change. Apparently, wanting more people to go to college makes you a snob. Why was Bush elected? Because Americans didn't want an "elitist" president like Obama.

Where did you get that information. First of all, the draft can be resumed at any time.
Secondly, most industrialized nations do NOT have a draft:
