Compared to Australia and the US, China, Vietnam, Thailand really like to constantly bombard you with their national flag.

In these nations, one can barely go a couple of blocks down a street without seeing the flag, either displayed publicly, outside someone's house/apartment blocks.etc.

In Malaysia I notice it being less common.

How about Canada? UK? Germany? How often do you see the flag?

Cambodia as common as Thailand. Laos fairly common(two flags there the national and hammer and sickle.
In Europe I noticed in Denmark very common including outside folk's houses.
Germany seldom seen although the 06 World Cup did make the flag acceptable as prior to that it was seen as a nationalistic symbol.
The Cross of St George very common in England outside of house/flat windows during a sporting event....

How can a nation's flag be seen as a negative symbol in it's own country?

Do they feel shame EVERY time they fly it?

If the state is allowed to fly it outside Parliament, why not the public citizen?

What a crock of bunkum.

Countries where you see the national flag everywhere...
I think Latin American, Mediterranean, Islamic and Communist countries,
Like Brazil, Italy, Algeria and North Korea.

You see hardly any flags in Germany except every 2 years for football (worldcup, European cup). Then you can see lots of German flags, but also Turkish, Italian, French, etc. ones.

Then Spain is just like Germany. Showing the National flag was considered "Fascist" until Spain won the last World Cup. When somebody shows the flag, many people thinks he's a fascist, a francoist, etc.

Only MadrileƱos use the flag for absolutely everything, many people identify the Spanish flag with the banner of Real Madrid F.C.

We use the Cross of St. George a lot (the flag of our town).

in the US you can see the flag everywhere. once I was going from warwick NY to Clifton NJ by car and I had counted the number of flags on my way. I counted 135 flags on a 50 mile route. I think the reason is, being a very young nation, US wants to create a sense of nationality. even at my workplace, just on our floor there are at least a dozen flags may be more. some people stick us flag behind their ID holder which they carry at work.
