Authorities in the Indian city of Ahmedabad have decided to pay people to use public toilets in a bid to combat public urination and defecation, AFP reports.
Ahmedabad is in the state of Gujarat, where the newly elected PM of India is from, Narendra Modi. I believe this is supposed to be the state and major city of India making leaps and bounds for improvements within the economy and infrastructure, compared to other parts of the country. You actually get one rupee per appropriate bowel movement, and last I checked you get about 52 rupees on the Canadian dollar. Doesn't seem like much, but actually you can afford a number of different snacks and dishes from vendors on the streets from anywhere between 5-30 rupees. I'm surprised they're not even trying for like 25 or 50 paise or something first. Cool.
