I expected Canada to be in the top 5, didn't knew Switzerland, Cyprus and Uruguay had that many guns.
Really thought the next countries would have a lot more guns but i guess they use other weapons to get their food/fur/trophy or just own illegal guns i guess...
Australia 15.0 (Try watching NatGeo/Discovery for a evening, 100% sure there will be a item about hunting/prisons in Australia)
South Africa 12.7 (They have like more wild animals than the world has pets and have by far the highest firearm-related death rate in the world - 74.57 per 100k people, runner-up is Colombia with 51.77)
Japan 0.6 (Number would be a lot higher if you include harpoons/spearguns)
I think they forgot to list the first number for these countries...
Russia 8.9
Jamaica 8.1
Brazil 8.0
Nicaragua 7.7
Belarus 7.3
Georgia 7.3
Ukraine 6.6
Swaziland 6.4
Honduras 6.2
Colombia 5.9
El Salvador 5.8
Dominican Republic 5.1
Afghanistan 4.4 (Maybe 4.4 per 10 people but not per 100!)
Poland 1.3
Ecuador 1.3
Romania 0.7
Lithuania 0.7
Sierra Leone 0.6
Haiti 0.6
the Netherlands have the least (registred/3.9 per 100 people) guns of all countries in the 1st world besides Singapore (0.5), Japan(0.6) and South Korea (1.1) while being very close to countries with much higher gun ownership numbers Switzerland (45.7), France (31.2), Austria (30.4), Germany (30.3), Belgium (17.2), Czech Republic (16.3) and Luxembourg (15.3).
Why are we still called "Disneyland for Criminals"?
It is indeed, I remember hunting season in MS some schools even closed to honour the first day of the season!
I remember nearly almost every night driving home from work and deer being close to the road side and being petrified that they would jump out in front of my truck. There are tons of white tailed deer in the US despite the generous bag limits. It is the same in Scotland with roe and red deer.

It's a real fear. Around here, a lot of deer get killed that way and lay on the side of the road, unfortunately.
Lots of hunting in rural Canada, typically in the more remote parts of the country. It should be noted that it's an important food source in areas where trucking in food is very expensive. I'm thinking mostly of the aboriginal communities, who depend on the food they get from the hunt to help them eat well through the winters.
Interesting discussion so far... But which reminds me, I'll have to add Russia (though not thoroughly western, it's still European) as well to the list as well... C'mon with all the land and space they had, it'd be weird if they did not have that. Besides I read that even during the Soviet era, getting a hunting rifle and license wasn't too difficult or costly. I would welcome it if a Russian person (or someone who lived there for many years) chimes in on this issue as he/she'd most likely have more in-depth knowledge than me.
But anyway, when I was in St. Petersburg, I was able to get hold of a meal with rabbit meat in one of the cafes downtown. Seriously delicious stuff. Like a richer flavoured version of chicken...
Not in England.. there aren't many animals here to hunt, we have deer of course, but if you went to a national park and shot a deer I think you'd be arrested lol
Hunting in NZ is widespread. Rather informal here compared to what I saw in the US. Just go for a walk and open up on anything that walks in front of the sights. I've shot a deer and a pig in the last 10 days or so, within a few hundred metres of the house. The kids got a rev up a few weeks ago, for shooting bunnies from their bedroom window.
Are you aware that you've raised savaged beasts, just like you are?

That should be -savage beasts. Savaged beasts would give the sentence a different meaning.
Rabbits, possums, goats, pigs and deer area all pests animals around here. The numbers have to be kept manageable.
Eating meat and killing are the same thing.
