All true, it is indeed high desert but not really much of a NASCAR place.

Sort of in many parts of the state especially closer to Texas, but there's a lot of mountainous terrain also as the southern end of the Rockies come down into NM from Colorado.

This is pretty much it. A road cutting through a bunch of Indian reservations, and another road crossing it, east to west.

Does anyone remember the old Warner Brothers cartoons, famous for Bugs Bunny? And Road Runner? Well, the Coyote and Road Runner characters came from Native American lore in the Southwest. Only it wasn't a road runner, it was often a rabbit that would stymie Coyote, the trickster.
