You sounded more South African....

Always amusing to hear our friends in the colonies try to imitate us. Someday you'll master the art of effectively taking the p1ss.

If this is the way they view others, then YES, they ARE shallow.
BTW: why the Americans obsession about bleached teeth and Botox?
Why the obsession with teeth brightening has gond beyond the pale - The Boston Globe

United States must be the only Western country where obesity is considered beautiful.

Read the 'Relationships' and 'Fashion' forums on here and you'll see how shallow some of these people really are; it's quite depressing.

you should probably try to come to some sort of consensus if you're going to throw your own stereotypes around

In a country with so much obesity (35%), women cannot afford to be picky .

Yeah, I don't quite understand the obsession about white teeth and Botox and not the fat they are carrying around.
The Botox industry is recession-proof for America’s obsession with beauty and perfection seem to trump all else. According to the Financial Times, cosmetic industry raked in $1.3 billion last year - a 13 % increase from 2010. Yes, billions for snake venom pumped into faces because of our culture’s insatiable appetite for younger, fuller, smoother, sexier, perkier lips, cheeks and everything else in between.
