I first traveled to a different city in America (NYC) for model UN when I was 18 or so and I hated the trip overall. It was a college study away trip and I disliked it because

1. Hated one guy who I was rooming with at the hotel, got into heated arguments
2. Professors were just pissed for no reason at most people
3. Found it hard to get along with people who I was on the trip with

The experience was a disaster so I generally avoid study abroad trips or large group trips now. I try to pretty much go away on my own or with 2 or 3 friends at most. Find it better that way.

How about you?

Erm, I travel with my parents. So we don't travel that often maybe 2 times a year.(but when we do its a big expensive holiday). I find that i'd rather go on a holiday with my own family than with a group because with a group you don't get to do what you want and you stay in far lower levels of accommodation. Plus I would hate to be on a trip with teachers that would personally ruin my holiday.

With family or alone.

Once I took a study trip to Germany for vocational teachers to examine the dual vocational education system there. That was the closest thing to a 'group tour' I ever took, but we mainly visited technical colleges and such, not landmarks or tourist traps.

I travel alone.
It's my preference.

This weekend I'm traveling to Dresden for the city fest: Dresdner Stadtfest 2012 - Eine faszinierende Idee. | 17. bis 19. August 2012
Alone.
