As far as I know, only American fast food restaurants have drive-throughs in India. The idea of a drive-through bank or atm is still very alien to Indians. My dad worked for a bank in India. I can't wait to show him drive through banks and atms and see the look on his face when he visits me here in US.

Are drive in movie theaters popular anywhere else?

I think there are 1 or 2 drive-thru cinemas left where I live, haven't actually been to one myself.

Most of the fast food chains have them here in Australia, as well as liquor stores, and drive-thru coffee has become quite popular in the last decade.

I don't think I have ever seen a drive-through in South Korea. But I do remember seeing a few in Fukuoka, Japan. Several parts of Fukuoka seemed quite Americanized in terms of its city structure, which I find less appealing as a tourist, but that gives me a bit of a more "homely" feel to it.

LOL we have one of them nearby in East Texas!

I always thought this was a ridiculous and ironic idea.

some of the McDonalds restaurants on busy streets in city center have open windows where people grab their stuff to go and take off.

There's a KFC with a drive-through near Schiphol Airport outside Amsterdam. That's the only one I remember from the 4 years I lived in Europe.

In France, people use drive-through in suburban McDonald's, Quick and KFC. I don't know of any others.

I've never seen a drive-through cinema in the UK, I don't think they exist.

As mentioned, there's plenty of drive-though McDonald's, KFC's and Burger King's in the suburbs here. In the city centre they are restaurants though.
